Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father's care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Matthew 10:29-31

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will--to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. Ephesians 1:3-6

We often use John 3:16 as the reference to God’s love for us. However, the Bible is full of verses which tell us how much He loves us. The Matthew verse tells us that God finds us more worthy than the sparrows. He knows the numbers of every hair on our heads. If He didn't care, would he care about the amount of hair we have? In the Ephesians verse we are told that God chose us before creation. He wanted every living person to be in relationship with Him through adoption. God is God. He didn't have to do anything. He chose to put His plan into place that would allow us to become His sons and daughters even before Adam and Eve took the nose dive into sin.

I don’t know about you, but that’s pretty amazing to me. Even if every person who’d ever existed had refused this free gift, He still would have done it for one. That person could have been you or me. Needless to say, thousands upon thousands of people have given their hearts to God through the centuries and more continue to come to Him each day. Why is that, do you suppose? Because they have come to that realization in their hearts that God LOVES them. He desires a place in our hearts and no matter where we go or what we do, He will be there with us.

Is He in your heart today?
